During the COVID-19 pandemic, many children and their families are experiencing higher levels of distress, anxiety, social isolation, and day-to-day challenges. Mental health across Victoria has declined and therefore, more access to Psychological care is required.
The Federal Government has made a decision to allow a further 10 sessions of Psychological treatment for those using a Mental Health Care Plan. Individuals will now be allocated 20 treatment sessions for their care plan. All 20 sessions will continue to be subsidised under Medicare.
To be able to access the additional 10 Psychology sessions, individuals need to be:
- Subject to public health orders restricting their movement within a state or territory issued at any time from 1 July 2020 to 31 March 2021
- Required to isolate or quarantine under public health orders
The measure commenced on Friday 7th August 2020 and will be available until 31st March 2021
