Senior Occupational Therapist/Team Leader
Senior Occupational Therapist/Team Leader
Salary: $110,000 – $130,000 inclusive of super + $1500 PD
Full time or 4 days/wk
This is a leadership and creative role. We’re looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to co-develop and eventually lead the Occupational Therapy arm of an established, therapist-led paediatric clinic. This is not a “fill-your-diary” role.
De Silva Kids Clinic is a purpose-built multidisciplinary clinic in Mill Park. Speech Pathology and Psychology services are in full swing, and our families would love to receive all of their services under the one roof. So, we’re dedicated to building our OT arm. You’d be the person who shapes what that looks like: the service model, the clinical approach, and as the team grows, the OT’s who you’ll recruit to work in your team.
If you’ve been wanting a role where you can contribute beyond your caseload, and lead with purpose, this is it.
What the role involves
- Paediatric OT assessments and therapy across a variety of presentations – ASD, ADHD, Sensory Processing, GDD and more
- Individual and group sessions, clinic-based with minimal community work
- Working alongside psychologists and speech pathologists in a genuinely collaborative team
- A growing pathway into supervision of junior OTs and clinical leadership as the discipline expands
In the first 12 months, your week will be roughly split between building your caseload and building the service. Most days you’ll run 5 sessions: paediatric assessments and therapy across ASD, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Global Developmental Delay and a range of other presentations.
Sessions are roughly 50 mins, primarily clinic-based, with a small amount of community-based work. You’ll have admin-supported documentation time built in – we don’t expect you to use your lunch break for notes.
Alongside the clinical work, you’ll contribute to the things that make a new discipline actually function: what the OT referral pathway looks like, which group programs make sense for our families, how we introduce OT FCAs and therapy to the families already working with our speech and psych team. You won’t be doing this alone – you’ll work closely with the clinic director and have external supervision from a senior OT, calibrated to your level and goals.
By year two, as the caseload grows, you’ll start supervising junior OTs and have an increasing say in how the team is shaped.
If you want a concrete picture: Monday might start with two individual therapy sessions, a family consultation, and then lunch with the team. The afternoon might consist of a cross-disciplinary case chat with one of our speechies, followed by 2 individual afternoon sessions. Wednesday might include an assessment, a report, lunch with the team, an hour planning the delivery of FCA’s within the clinic and 2 afternoon sessions. The mix changes as the discipline matures – that’s the point.
What we offer
- $110k-$130k inclusive, negotiable based on experience and what you bring to the role
- $1,500 PD budget + dedicated internal PD time each month
- Access to our purpose-built sensory gym and full suite of assessments and resources
- 3 paid Elevate Days per year (team building, no clients)
- Additional paid mental health days on top of standard leave
- Dedicated full admin support
- Flexible scheduling (early finish or later start options)
What makes us different
- Therapist-owned and led – your leaders understand your work because they do it too
- Realistic caseloads with protected time for planning and reporting
- Strong team culture with lunches, celebrations and genuine connection
- Genuinely invested in our mission to EMPOWER FAMILIES through education, support and excellent allied health services
Who we’re looking for
- Qualified OT with current AHPRA registration
- Minimum 3+ yrs experience
- Passionate about neurodivergent children and family-centred practice
- Collaborative, curious, and interested in helping shape something
- Comfortable working in an emerging discipline – you create structure rather than wait for it
- Current Working with Children Check required.
